Post what you're listening to lately, what you think about it, genre, similar bands, etc... also post here for suggestions.

I'm listening to Gojira, "From Mars to Sirius" and Burst, "Origo" lately. Both albums are extremely solid metal offerings, but a lot more atmospheric than most heavy music. Burst derives a lot of their music from the hardcore spectrum; I hear a lot of Botch as well as some progressive touches. After listening to this album for the first time a year ago (or so), I wasn't terribly impressed... but gave it another spin recently and am blown away. Lots of harsh hardcore with atmospheric, non-distorted passages sprinkled around... blood-curdling screams (no death growls here), and some melodic, almost Cynic-style vocals here and there.

Gojira is a band I reccommended in a previous thread... they're from France, and probably the best thing to come out of there since triple-creme brie. The album itself, again, is a lot more atmospheric than most metal I've heard - that is, you can bang your head to it, but you probably want to listen while making snow angels and appreciating the world around you. It's really immersive metal, yet typifies the death metal sound.

Both albums are highly reccommended. I'm always looking for new stuff to listen to as well... any genre (prefer hiphop, progressive rock/metal, and alt-rock as of late).

Ok, so you listen to Radiohead. Thanks.

I mean, if you want to, we could have a big thread that looks like this:

"I like Tool. They sound good. I like Verve Pipe. They sound good... etc"

No, it's cool, next time I won't post exactly what you wanted...

kingsoby1 wrote:Ok, so you listen to Radiohead. Thanks.

I don't know if you noticed, but there were other 'artists' on that page...
I mean, if people are interested in a few of the bands I have on there, they might become interested in some of the others listed.

No No No. Instead, we'll do it the Soby way and kill off any discussion...

I think you have to post about something that's not on the radio or it's not cool. That's why you don't talk about about Disturbed or Ozzy.

Anyways I heard Sixx AM on the radio and thought the guitars were pretty good, so I checked out their album and it's a concept album, and Life is Beautiful is like the only straight up song on there. Then I found out Nikki Sixx was the bassist, so that was scary. Some of the songs did remind me of Queensryche, maybe it was the vocals.

On a daily basis I listen to Children of Bodom and Killswitch Engage. They both follow me from the car, to work, to the gym and home. If I want to switch it up, I'll throw in some Metallica, Pantera, Trivium and In Flames. Oh and don't forget old Skid Row...I'm still stuck on them. There is also this unsigned band I mentioned in another thread St. Valentines Massacre who has some good shit.

And I agree with Soby on Gojira...great band. I need to download some of their stuff. I typically don't like radio stuff, but Disturbed is good. Who doesn't like Stupify, Down with the Sickness, Remember and Stricken. Ozzy blows, I have always felt that way...sorry to offend any Ozzy fans out there.

I'll have to check out the bands listed as I haven't heard alot of them but what do you expect from this old man...hehe

Been listening to Foo Fighters,Fiction Plane and really enjoying Bruce Springsteens last CD. It is incredible at almost age 60 the man can still rock.

Hey I like Skillet too. I liked Collide a little better than Comatose, but Whispers in the Dark is probably their best song. That or Open Wounds.

I agree from the few Gojira songs I've heard that they are a good band. I still can't get past the vocals however. Believe me ever since Sepultura back in the day I've been trying to like that kind of band, but I don't. Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power and most old Project 86 stuff I like though, and they had to grow on me.

Mr. Beef- ok how old are you? You can't be that old...
Foo Fighters are ok, but if you like "the Boss" I doubt you'd like Killswitch Engage...

I have been listening to the streets lately, the album original pirate material. If you don't know its this british guy who raps. If you actually give it a chance its pretty good, because of his accent he can make unusual words ryme. And you don' hear it on the radio wich means it has some substance
