Player rating site

I don't recall this ever being posted, but I could be wrong?
I found this interesting little site that breaks down players, in various ways. Great stuff in here.

No problemo! :D

If you go into the stat "by position" it gives you a breakdown of every player. This could be very useful in rating players and or coming up with a possible universal rating system for all roms.

Actually I posted about profootball focus about 2-3 weeks ago in one of the threads about rating players.

It is indeed another valuable resource which I used in my last rom but not the end all be all as its 4-5 guys watching the games purely from TV footage and giving their own subjective grades in an objective rating system.

Here is an example. They have Vernon Davis as the 23rd best TE in terms of his receiving performance/skills. I watched almost all the Niners games this season. Even Football outsiders which is based purely on stats has him as the 19th best end. I think in pure tecmo numbers you have to rate him higher.

It has a lot of information on defensive players and offensive lineman which is useful .

This site is great. It will definitely help with rating offensive lineman anyways, since no site really keeps any stats for them.

very cool site. Here's an understatement for you: Joe Thomas is a damn good tackle ;)

Is this site new, because it looks like they only have this year?

wow, very interesting ratings for Woodson and Revis. They give Woodson the slight edge. If you take away the points Woodson got for pass rushing, which are negligible, they come out exactly tied. But then, if you discount penalties, Woodson would still be up by 4.

Of all CBs, Woodson is ranked 2nd in coverage and 1st against the run, by a wide margin. Revis is 1st in coverage by a wide margin, but way down at 54th against the run. Maybe Woodson is the better overall corner :!: Assuming these guys are at least close to accurate, I never realized how much Woodson helped in run support. He plays the run like a safety and the pass like a corner. They used to say that about Ronnie Lott.

OH OH OH They have a yards after contact column for RBs. Take some parts that, some parts BMI, a dash of weight, and there's HP. I like this site :)

I must partially retract my endoresement of this site. A lot of the ratings don't seem to add up. For one thing, they make no distinction between starters and bench players. For example, TO is graded as the worst receiver in Buffalo, behind the two guys behind him on the depth start. The OL is the same, guys with 200 snaps are coming out ahead of guys with 1000. I don't care if he had an off year, Alan Faneca is not the 67th best guard in the league. That's just crazy.

If you want to use this site for stats you can't get anywhere else, that's fine. The stats appear to be accurate. But I would ignore their ratings. You're better off coming up with your own based on their stats.

Or just have a general understanding of the better known OL players. Foundations are all I want as someone interested in designated 3rd-party player rankings.
